2. Educational Qualification
Bachelor's Degree in any one of the following subjects as principal subject from a recognised University/Institution: Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Zoology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Bio-chemistry, Environmental Science, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Agriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Engineering/Technology
Important conditions:
- Candidates with B.Sc. (Agriculture) / B.Sc. (Horticulture) / B.Sc. (Forestry) must have degree from an Agriculture/Horticulture University established under Central or State Agriculture/Horticulture Universities Act
- Special Benefit: Candidates with B.Sc. Forestry as principal subject are eligible for additional 10% marks of total marks obtained in Main Written Exam and Interview
- Basic Computer Knowledge as prescribed in Gujarat Civil Services Rules 1967 is mandatory
- Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both is required
- Candidates appearing in final exam but result not yet declared may apply for Preliminary Exam

Disqualifying Physical Conditions: Knock knee, Squint eye, Flat feet, Varicose Veins, Hammer toes, Fractured limb, Communicable/skin disease, Colour blindness, History of psychiatric ailments.
Walking Test (after GPSC recommendation):
- Male candidates: 25 km within 4 hours
- Female candidates: 14 km within 4 hours
- One additional chance given if failed in first attempt; no appointment if failed second time

- NOC from present employer (if working in Govt./PSU/Co-operative body)

Important Notes
- B.Sc. Forestry candidates get 10% additional marks in Main Written Exam and Interview — a significant advantage
- Walking Test is mandatory after GPSC recommendation — prepare physically
- PwD Disability Certificate must be in Form V/VI/VII as per RPwD Rules 2017 — old formats are not accepted
- Physical measurement will be taken on the Viva day — candidates not meeting standards will not be allowed in the interview
- Candidates working in Govt./PSU must inform their department within 7 days of applying
- Candidates working in Central/other State Govt./Local Bodies/Co-operative Bodies must attach NOC from appointing authority
- Widow candidates get 5% bonus marks — affidavit of non-remarriage is mandatory
