- Single examination conducted for both posts; final post offered based on rank in consolidated merit list
- Written Examination and Skill Test conducted at 9 stations: Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Guwahati, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad; candidates opt for 2 preferred centers
- Qualifying marks: General-40% each paper/50% aggregate; OBC/EWS-35% each paper/45% aggregate; SC/ST/PWD-30% each paper/40% aggregate

- No TA/DA for appearing in exams; SC/ST candidates not in government service get 2nd Class railway/bus fare reimbursement
- Selected candidates on probation for 2 years; liable to be posted at any ITAT Bench across India
