Gujarat Govt Partners with Unnati Foundation to Train 25,000 Youth Every Year

In a major step towards improving youth employability, the Government of Gujarat has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Unnati Foundation, a non-profit organization working in vocational skill development.

Under this partnership, 25,000 students will receive job-oriented vocational training every year, with a target to train 75,000 final-year college students over the next three years.

📌 Key Highlights of the Program

  • The UNXT skill development program will be implemented in around 200 government colleges and ITIs across Gujarat.

  • The training focuses on making students industry-ready rather than only academically qualified.

  • Students from Arts, Commerce, Science, and Engineering streams will be eligible.

🧑‍🎓 Training Structure

The UNXT program is a 200-hour employment readiness course, which includes:

  • 90 hours of offline classroom training

  • 90 hours of online learning through LMS

  • Focus areas:

    • English communication

    • Life skills & values

    • Interview preparation

    • Workplace etiquette

🧠 Career Assessment & Job Support

  • Each student will undergo a psychometric assessment to understand aptitude and career readiness.

  • Students’ profiles will be uploaded on Unnati’s “Udhyogam” job portal, specially designed for freshers.

  • Recruiters can search candidates based on location, education, and video resumes, improving job matching.

🎯 Objective of the Initiative

The initiative aims to bridge the gap between education and employment, especially for students from rural and underprivileged backgrounds.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ramesh Swamy, Director of Unnati Foundation, said the collaboration will help ensure that graduates are equipped with real-world skills and long-term career opportunities, helping them meet industry demands confidently.
