This is Advt. No. R.II-21/2026-Sports, dated 17 September 2026, issued by the Directorate General, CRPF, New Delhi. The posts are Group C, non-gazetted and non-ministerial, on a temporary basis likely to be made permanent. They carry all-India service liability, including service abroad, and selected candidates are governed by the CRPF Act 1949 and Rules 1955.

Vacancies are spread across 22 sports disciplines, from Athletics, Swimming and Shooting to Kabaddi, Hockey and Yoga. Vacancy numbers are tentative and may change for administrative reasons. Candidates must check the detailed notification on the CRPF website before applying.

  • No fee for women, SC, ST and Ex-servicemen candidates; only male UR/OBC/EWS candidates pay.
  • Only sports achievements of the last two years (30/09/2024 to 30/09/2026) are counted.
  • Persons with Disabilities (PwD) are not eligible to apply.
  • Only one application per candidate, and for one post only; duplicates lead to cancellation.
  • Sports Trial Test carries no marks, but failing it means rejection. Final merit is based on sports achievement marks.
  • 3-year bond of Rs. 1,00,000 must be signed by selected candidates.
  • Performance monitored for 2 years; services can be terminated if the standard drops.
  • Government employees need a No Objection Certificate (Annexure A).
  • Aadhaar-based biometric verification at all stages.

Eligibility

Educational Qualification

  • HC/GD: 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized Board/University, or equivalent Army qualification for Ex-Army personnel.
  • CT/GD: Matriculation (10th) or equivalent from a recognized board.
  • Qualification must be held on or before 11/11/2026. Candidates appearing in exams or awaiting results are not eligible.
  • Non-Central/State Board qualifications need a Government equivalence notification.

Age Limit

  • 18 to 23 years as on 01.08.2026, for both posts.
  • Date of birth and name are taken only from the Matriculation/Secondary certificate.

Sports Qualification for HC/GD

  • Represented India in recognized international competitions with Department of Sports clearance.
  • Represented a State/UT in National Games or championships by recognized National Sports Federations (or IOA National Games) and won a medal or position up to 3rd.
  • First or second position in an individual event at Inter-University tournaments; in team events, the team must have reached the finals (AIU/Inter University Sports Board).
  • Gold or Silver medal in Junior National level games/championships by recognized National Sports Federations.

Sports Qualification for CT/GD

  • Represented a State in Senior/Junior National games or championships by recognized National Sports Federations.
  • Represented State School teams in National School Games (SGFI) and won a medal or position up to 3rd.
  • Represented a State/UT in Khelo India University/Youth/Winter Games and won a medal or position up to 3rd.
  • Represented a University in Inter-University tournaments conducted by Inter-University Sports Boards.

Physical Standards

  • Height: Male 170 cm, Female 157 cm.
  • Chest (Male): 80 cm un-expanded with minimum 5 cm expansion.
  • Weight: proportionate to height and age as per medical standards (Annexure D).
  • Relaxation in height: ST 162.5 cm (M) / 150 cm (F); Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Dogras, Marathas and candidates from Assam, Himachal Pradesh, J&K and Ladakh 165 cm (M) / 155 cm (F); North-Eastern states candidates 162.5 cm (M) / 152.5 cm (F); ST of NE states 157 cm (M) / 147.5 cm (F); ST of Left-Wing Extremism affected districts 160 cm (M) / 147.5 cm (F); GTA (Darjeeling) candidates 157 cm (M) / 152.5 cm (F).
  • Relaxation in chest: ST 76 cm; Garhwalis, Kumaonis, Dogras, Marathas and candidates from Assam, HP, J&K and Ladakh 78 cm; North-Eastern states and GTA 77 cm; minimum expansion stays 5 cm.
  • Outstanding sportspersons may be recommended for relaxation in height, chest and weight, subject to MHA approval.

Medical Standards

  • Distance vision 6/6 and 6/9 for both eyes without correction.
  • Colour-blind candidates are not eligible.
  • No knock knee, flat foot, varicose veins or squint.
  • Tattoos only on the left forearm inner side or back of the hands, smaller than 1/4 of that part, and only religious symbols or names.

Important notes

General Guidelines

  1. Only the online mode is accepted. Offline applications are rejected summarily.
  2. Apply early to avoid website overload near the closing date.

Sports Achievement and Marking

  1. Only medals or participation between 30/09/2024 and 30/09/2026 count.
  2. Marks are given for only one highest medal or position, even if you won several in one competition.
  3. Ties are broken by higher achievement, then older age, then alphabetical order of name.
  4. Sports certificates must be signed by the authority in the prescribed forms (Annexures J to N).

Application and Documents

  1. Name, date of birth, and parents' names must match the Matriculation certificate exactly.
  2. Changes to submitted personal particulars are not entertained.
  3. Blurred or illegible photo/signature leads to rejection.
  4. Carry the same passport size photos used in the application at every stage, plus an original photo ID.
  5. Candidates unable to produce originals are eliminated.

Post-Selection Conditions

  1. Selected candidates sign a Rs. 1,00,000 bond to serve at least 3 years.
  2. Performance is monitored for 2 years; services may be terminated if the standard falls.
  3. Sportspersons may be sent to general duty battalions for combat duties if performance drops.
  4. Female candidates must submit a pregnancy self-declaration at PST; a pregnant candidate is declared temporarily unfit and her seat is kept reserved.

Fraud Warning

  1. No money is charged for recruitment in CRPF. Report anyone demanding money to the Chairman of the Recruitment Board, IG/DIG, or the nearest police station.
