Important notes

General Guidelines

  1. Apply only through the link on the unified official RRB website. Beware of fake websites and job touts.
  2. All eligibility must be met on 25.11.2026 (23:59 hrs). Eligibility is provisional until Document Verification.
  3. Vacancies are provisional and may increase, decrease or become nil. Railways can cancel vacancies at any stage.
  4. Selection does not give any right of appointment. Appointment is offered only by the Railway Administration.
  5. Selected candidates must undergo training (stipend only), execute surety/indemnity bond where needed, and are liable for service in the Railway Engineers Unit of the Territorial Army.
  6. Posting is on the Railway where first appointed. Transfer requests are not registered until 5 to 10 years of service.
  7. Railway Zone is allotted as per option, merit, medical standard and vacancy, but RRB can allot a zone not opted in administrative interest.
  8. No alternate appointment if medically unfit. One last medical appeal is allowed on payment of charges.
  9. Exam city may be in another city or state. No change of city, centre, date or shift is allowed.
  10. CBT scores may be shared with other Ministries, PSUs and private organisations with the candidate's consent.

Eligibility Conditions

  1. Community or category status on the closing date (25.11.2026) will be considered. Later changes are not accepted.
  2. OBC-NCL certificate must be issued on or after 01.04.2026 and not later than 25.11.2026, in the Annexure-II format, and the caste must be in the Central OBC list. State-list-only castes cannot claim reservation.
  3. OBC-NCL candidates must submit Annexure-IIA self-declaration at DV, otherwise they are treated as UR.
  4. EWS: family income below Rs. 8 lakh for FY 2025-26 and asset limits apply (5 acres agricultural land, 1000 sq ft flat, 100 sq yd plot in notified municipality, 200 sq yd plot elsewhere). Certificate must be valid on the closing date.
  5. EBC (family income below Rs. 50,000) gets only fee concession and no job reservation. EBC, EWS and OBC are three different categories.
  6. Candidates from Bihar belonging to Lohar/Lohara/Lohra (ST/OBC-NCL claim) must submit caste certificate issued after 01.04.2023. Those of Pan/Panr/Sawasi/Tanti-Tatwa castes must submit certificate issued on or after 01.09.2024.
  7. SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS candidates can also apply for UR vacancies but get no age relaxation and must compete with UR candidates.
  8. Ex-servicemen get horizontal reservation. Serving defence personnel due for release within one year of closing date can also apply. Ex-servicemen who already got civil job using the ExSM quota get only age relaxation.

Application & Fee

  1. Fee is Rs. 500 for all, and Rs. 250 for women, transgender, ex-servicemen, SC, ST, minorities and EBC.
  2. Fee is paid online only. Applications without fee are rejected. Fee of incomplete, unsubmitted or rejected applications is not refunded.
  3. Refund after appearing in CBT: Rs. 400 (Rs. 500 category) or Rs. 250 (concession category), less bank charges, only to the Aadhaar-seeded bank account.
  4. Modification fee of Rs. 250 is non-refundable and payable by all. Moving from a concession category to UR/OBC/EWS/male candidate needs an extra Rs. 250.

  6. Minority candidates claiming fee waiver must give an affidavit (Annexure-V) on non-judicial stamp paper at DV.

Exam Day Rules

  1. Banned items: mobile phones, watches, earphones, Bluetooth devices, calculators, pens, papers, belts, bags, caps, water bottles and food. A pen is given inside. Cloak room may not be available.
  2. Do not apply Mehandi on hands, as it blocks biometric capture.
  3. Candidates must write the self-declaration paragraph, sign and give LTI at the exam hall only. Pre-written paragraphs or capital letter signatures lead to rejection.
  4. Bring the e-call letter, original photo ID and a colour photo not older than two months. Biometrics are taken at every stage.

Communication & Document Verification

  1. Keep your mobile number and email active throughout. RRB will not change them at any stage.
  2. E-call letters are downloaded about 4 days before the exam and city intimation comes about 10 days before. Nothing is sent by post.
  3. Shortlisted candidates must upload photo and signature at https://oirms-ir.gov.in/rrbdv/ before DV, and carry originals plus two sets of self-attested photocopies.
  4. Candidates absent at DV or not producing originals will have candidature cancelled. Certificates must be in English or Hindi or have a self-attested translation.
  5. Present address proof is needed at DV, and police verification is done at that address.
  6. If the live photo does not match your photo ID, download the Annexure-VIII form, and get it signed by a Gazetted Officer.
  7. Name change cases need a Gazette Notification or legal document plus a photo ID with the changed name.

Fraud/Canvassing Warning

  1. RRBs have not appointed any agent or coaching centre. Selection is purely on merit.
  2. Unfair means, impersonation or false information leads to lifetime debarment from all RRB/RRC exams, dismissal if appointed, and legal action under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act 2024.
  3. Attempts to influence RRB lead to disqualification.
