Qualification and Experience by Post (as on 01/10/2026):

  • Civil Engineer (YP-3): B.E./B.Tech. (Full Time) in Civil Engineering or equivalent. Minimum 10 years of post-qualification experience as a Civil Engineer in execution of civil work in a manufacturing industry, mining sector or infrastructure development organisation.
  • Surveyor (YP-2): B.E./B.Tech. (Full Time) in Mining & Mines Survey or Mining Engineering. Valid Surveyor's Certificate of Competency for Metalliferous Mines having opencast working under MMR, 1961. Minimum 6 years of survey-related experience in a Central/State Govt. organisation, CPSU, PSU or private firm, including at least 1 year of mining survey work in metalliferous opencast mines. Desirable: proficiency in CAD software for survey work.
  • IT Engineer (YP-1): B.E./B.Tech. (Full Time) in Computer Science Engineering, Information Technology or Computer Science & Information Technology, OR 3-year full-time MCA. Minimum 3 years of experience in computer networking, server or database management, IoT, data handling, dashboards or web development in a Govt/PSU/reputed private company.
  • Electronics Engineer (YP-1): B.E./B.Tech. (Full Time) in Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Instrumentation, Automation or Instrumentation Engineering. Minimum 3 years of experience in VFD, PLC, SCADA, soft starters, digital protection, automation or instrumentation in a Central/State Govt. company, PSU, public limited company, private firm or JV where at least one partner is a Central/PSU/State Govt. organisation.

Employer Type Condition: The organisation where experience was gained must be a PSU, Govt. organisation, Public Limited Company, JV of PSUs/Govt., or a private firm with a valid CIN.

Course Type: The qualification must be a regular/full-time course from a university or institute recognized/accredited by bodies like UGC/AICTE. Equivalent engineering disciplines are considered as per AICTE Gazette Notification No. 175 dated 28.04.2017, wherever mentioned.

Desirable Skills (preferred, not mandatory):

  • IT Engineer: SQL and NoSQL, Big Data tools like Spark and Hadoop, industrial integration (OPC-UA, Modbus, SCADA APIs), ML-Ops, deploying AI/ML models on cloud, data pipelines and industrial network cyber security.
  • Electronics Engineer: digital circuits, VFD, PLC, soft starters, digital MPR relays, industrial protection systems, PLC ladder logic, and automation and condition-based monitoring of motors.

  6. Fill Annexure-I in capital letters. Paste a recent signed passport-size colour photograph and sign the form. Write your name exactly as in the Matriculation certificate.
  7. Scan the signed form and one set of self-attested documents in clear PDF format only.

Important notes

Selection and Engagement Terms

  1. Selection is through a Computer Based Test (CBT) and Personal Interaction, or Personal Interaction only. This is decided by SAIL.
  2. The committee may offer a candidate a level lower than the one applied for, if the total selected stays within the advertised requirement.
  3. Initial tenure is up to 3 years, extendable by 2 more years (one year at a time) at the sole discretion of OGoM, CMLO.
  4. Work hours are 8.5 hours a day, 6 days a week, as per shift. Extra work may be required at no extra payment.
  5. Leave is 1.5 days per completed month (18 days a year) with no carry-over. Absence beyond 18 days is not paid.
  6. The engagement is purely temporary. Young Professionals have the legal status of independent contractors and cannot claim regularization or compare themselves with regular employees.
  7. An agreement in the prescribed format must be signed before joining. Without it, the engagement is void.
  8. Intellectual property created during the contract belongs fully to the company.
  9. Confidentiality and non-disclosure duties continue even after the contract ends.

Termination and Conduct

  1. In the first 6 months, either side can end the contract with 7 days' notice.
  2. After 6 months, either side can end it with 1 month's notice or 1 month's fee in lieu.
  3. Absence of 15 days without written sanction can lead to immediate termination.
  4. Conviction for an offence involving moral turpitude, medical unfitness or indiscipline can lead to termination without notice.
  5. Young Professionals must follow the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013. Violation can lead to termination without notice.
  6. Payments are subject to tax deductions. Any excess payment can be recovered.
  7. In case of death, injury or illness linked to the work, neither the Young Professional nor family members get compensation.

Application and Fee

  1. Applications are accepted only by email in the prescribed format. No other mode is valid.
  2. The fee is non-refundable. Paying the fee without submitting the application by the due date will not be considered.
  3. Incomplete applications, missing photo or signature, missing fee, missing documents, ineligible applications and late applications will be rejected without any communication.
  4. Caste/category declared in the application cannot be changed later.
  5. Candidates should give a clear and complete postal address. SAIL is not responsible for postal delays or non-delivery.

Communication and Document Verification

  1. All communication will be by Email, SMS and the SAIL website only. Check them regularly.
  2. SAIL is not responsible for missed messages due to a wrong email ID or mobile number, or network problems.
  3. CBT/Personal Interaction dates, time and venue will be shared through Admit Card/Call Letter. Downloading and printing it is the candidate's responsibility.
  4. Entry needs a valid Admit Card/Call Letter and one Govt. approved photo ID. Biometric verification may be done.
  5. Test centres are allotted by SAIL and no change request will be accepted.
  6. Laptops, mobiles, wrist watches, calculators, scales and other electronic gadgets are not allowed in the exam centre.
  7. Shortlisted candidates must bring original documents at the time of Personal Interaction.
  8. Candidates employed in Govt./PSU/autonomous bodies must produce an NOC at Personal Interaction and a Release Order at joining.
  9. Selected candidates need a general medical fitness certificate. The company may ask for a medical examination.
  10. Pre-engagement verification of character and antecedents will be done. Candidates must give a declaration about no criminal convictions.

Warnings

  1. Bringing influence at any stage will disqualify the candidate.
  2. False or suppressed information leads to rejection at any stage, even after joining.
  3. SAIL can cancel, change or restrict the requirements or the whole process without giving a reason.
  4. The decision of SAIL/CMLO on eligibility and selection is final. Any dispute falls under the Rourkela court.
