In short

RRC Central Railway Apprentice Bharti 2026 offers 2861 Act Apprentice training slots under the Apprentices Act 1961 at Central Railway workshops, sheds and units. Candidates who passed 10th with at least 50% marks and hold an ITI certificate in the notified trade can apply online on rrccr.com until 2 December 2026, 5:00 PM.

The centralised Notification No. RRC/CR/AA/2026 was issued on 03 November 2026 by RRC, Central Railway, Mumbai, which acts as the nodal agency for applications and merit lists. Training is offered in trades such as Fitter, Electrician, Welder, Machinist, Mechanic Diesel, Carpenter, Painter, Turner, Electronics Mechanic, Wireman, Stenographer and more, at units like Matunga and Parel Workshops, diesel and electric loco sheds, carriage & wagon depots and S&T departments.

There is no written exam; merit is prepared cluster-wise, unit-wise, trade-wise and community-wise. Training lasts one year, and there is no domicile restriction, so ITI holders from Gujarat and other states can also apply.

  • No written exam; merit is the simple average of 10th % and ITI %
  • Choose only ONE cluster and give unit preferences within it
  • Multiple applications will all be rejected
  • No fee for SC, ST, PwBD and Women candidates
  • Engineering graduates and Diploma holders are not eligible
  • Medical certificate (Annexure VII) from a Govt. Gazetted doctor is compulsory at document verification
  • No hostel and no TA/DA for document verification
  • No job guarantee in Railways after training

Important notes

General Guidelines

  1. Training slots are provisional and may be increased or decreased.
  2. There is no centralised merit list; merit lists go to each Division/Unit and document verification happens in the opted cluster.
  3. Ties are broken by age (older first), then by earlier 10th pass date.
  4. Training is for 1 year as per Railway Board rules, and no hostel is provided.
  5. A contract of apprenticeship must be signed before training; for minors, the guardian signs.
  6. If the apprentice breaks the contract, they or their surety may have to pay the training cost fixed by the Apprenticeship Adviser.
  7. Railways have no obligation to give a job after training, and the apprentice need not accept one.
  8. Change of division/unit after selection will not be allowed.

Application & Fee

  1. Apply only online; any physical copy sent to RRC will be ignored.
  2. Submitting more than one application with different details, e-mail or mobile will lead to rejection of all applications.
  3. Choosing a unit with no slot for your trade can make your application useless, as no changes are allowed later.
  4. Trying to reverse the fee transaction will be treated as withdrawal of the application.
  5. Apply early; RRC is not responsible for website problems on the last days.

Communication & Document Verification

  1. All messages are sent by e-mail/SMS and are treated as read.
  2. Original documents and the printed application must be shown at document verification.
  3. Name, father's name and date of birth must match the 10th certificate, or candidature will be cancelled.
  4. Corrupt or wrongly formatted uploads can lead to cancellation.
  5. No TA/DA is paid for document verification.

Fraud/Canvassing Warning

  1. Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidate.
  2. Fake or false certificates can lead to discharge at any stage, even after selection.
