Surat Municipal Corporation Bharti 2026 invites online applications for 18 vacancies across 9 cadres, filled by direct recruitment to create a waiting list (pratikshayadi). Eligible candidates can apply online on the official SMC website until 23 November 2026, 11:00 PM.

Post-wise qualification

• Radiologist: M.D. (Radio Diagnosis) or M.D. (Radiology), or Diplomate of National Board, or Post Graduate Diploma in Radiology / Radio Diagnosis
• Pathologist: M.D. (Pathology), or Diplomate of National Board, or Post Graduate Diploma in Pathology
• Legal Officer: Law graduate from a recognised university with the legal practice or government law-service experience stated in the official notification
• Vahivati Adhikari (Suman School): Graduate in any stream with a B.Ed degree, and about 10 years of experience as a secondary school teacher
• Departmental Inquiry Officer: Graduate from a recognised university with the experience stated in the official notification
• Deputy Engineer (Instrumentation): B.E. / B.Tech in Instrumentation or Instrumentation & Control Engineering, plus 5 years of proven experience in design, development, maintenance and calibration of instruments, including water or chemical treatment
• Assistant Engineer (Instrumentation): B.E. / B.Tech in Instrumentation or Instrumentation & Control Engineering from a recognised university
• Supervisor (Instrumentation): B.E. / B.Tech in Instrumentation or Instrumentation & Control Engineering, OR a Diploma in the same field with at least 2 years of experience in Instrumentation Engineering in government, local bodies, a government undertaking or a company registered under the Companies Act, 1956
• Director (IT): Check the official PDF for the exact qualification

Common conditions for all posts: Basic computer knowledge as per Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967, and adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.

Age limit (as on 23/11/2026)

• Radiologist, Pathologist, Legal Officer, Vahivati Adhikari and Departmental Inquiry Officer: not more than 45 years
• Deputy Engineer (Instrumentation): not more than 40 years
• Assistant Engineer and Supervisor (Instrumentation): not more than 35 years
• The age limit does not apply to Surat Municipal Corporation employees

Age relaxation: Candidates of Gujarat origin in reserved categories get relaxation as per current Gujarat Government rules, but the upper age cannot go beyond 45 years. Trainee candidates of SMC get no relaxation under these rules, but regular SMC employees are exempt from the age limit.

Experience: Only experience gained after obtaining the required qualification or degree is counted. Offer letters or appointment letters are not accepted as proof of experience.

Persons with disability: Candidates need at least 40% disability and must be of a benchmark disability type listed for the post. Reservation is limited to the disability types listed in the official notification for each post.

1. Visit the official website https://www.suratmunicipal.gov.in and open the Recruitment section.
2. Download and read the official advertisement PDF (P.R.O. No. 301) carefully. Check the qualification, age limit and experience for your cadre.
3. Register as a new user. Enter your email address, mobile number and captcha, then click Next.
   • Verify your mobile number with the OTP sent by SMS.
   • Enter your first name, last name and a password, then submit.
   • Verify your email address through the link sent to you, then log in.
4. Fill in your user profile with personal details such as name, date of birth and Aadhaar number, as per your school leaving certificate. Add your language skills (English / Hindi / Gujarati).
5. Click Apply Now next to the cadre you want and fill in the application form. Complete the fields marked with a red star (*).
6. Enter your educational qualification details. Select the degree you are applying on, add every required qualification, and add any additional degrees. Click Save as Draft.
7. Enter your experience details: institution name, from and to dates, designation, nature of work and monthly salary. Click Save as Draft.
8. Tick the documents you have, enter the captcha text and accept the declaration. Then upload your photo and signature in JPG/JPEG or PNG format.
   • Photo: 5 cm height x 3.6 cm width, up to 150 KB
   • Signature: 2.5 cm height x 7.5 cm width, up to 50 KB, signed on white paper in black or blue ink
9. Preview the application form, check all details, and click Confirm & Pay. Pay the fee online (₹500 for unreserved; ₹400 for reserved categories and women).
10. Download and print the payment receipt and the confirmed application form, and keep them safe until the recruitment process ends.
