Eligibility

Educational qualification (as per GMB Recruitment Rules dated 19/04/2025):

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Technical Examination Board Gujarat, or a recognised/deemed university or institution, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government
  • Diploma in Automobile is recognised as equivalent (Ports and Transport Department letter dated 08/09/2026)
  • Basic knowledge of computer application as prescribed in Gujarat Civil Services Classification (General) Rules, 1967
  • Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both
  • Final selection will consider all provisions of the recruitment rules

Age limit: Minimum 18 years and maximum 33 years as on 09/11/2026. Upper age can be relaxed for candidates already in Gujarat Government service as per the 1967 rules.

Reservation conditions:

  • Only original Gujarat ST, SEBC and EWS candidates get age relaxation and reservation benefits
  • SEBC: Non-Creamy Layer certificate (Appendix-4, Gujarati format) obtained between 01/04/2024 and 09/11/2026, or Annexure-A certificate of Government of India obtained between 01/04/2026 and 09/11/2026
  • Married SEBC women must give the certificate based on parents' income, not the husband's
  • EWS: certificate in Annexure-KH/Appendix-G format obtained between 10/11/2023 and 09/11/2026, or Income and Asset Certificate for FY 2025-26 obtained between 01/04/2026 and 09/11/2026
  • Without the valid certificate, SEBC/EWS candidates are treated as General category
  • Disabled candidates need Form V/VI/VII certificate under Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017; disabled candidates get 10 years relaxation (max 45 years) when no seat is reserved
  • Eligibility cut-off date for education, age, caste, NCL and EWS is 09/11/2026

  1. Complete OTR (One Time Registration) on https://ojas.gujarat.gov.in if not already done. Only OTR-registered candidates can apply.
  2. Open the OJAS website, click Apply under Online Application and select GSSSB.
  3. Click the cadre name for Advt. No. 463/202627, Additional Assistant Engineer (Mechanical), Class-3, then click Apply. Use More Details to read the full ad.
  4. Click Apply Now, enter your Registration No. and date of birth and click Apply with OTR. Personal details are pre-filled from registration.
  5. Fill the form step by step:
    • SSC details: roll number, month and year of passing, name on marksheet, board
    • Bank details for fee refund: name as per passbook, bank, IFSC, account number, plus upload of the first page of the passbook (JPEG/JPG/PNG)
    • Educational details; mention the sports, widow, ex-serviceman and disability details as applicable
  6. Accept the Declaration by selecting Yes and click Save. Note your Application Number.
  7. Upload photo and signature using Upload Photograph:
    • Photo: 5 cm height x 3.6 cm width; signature: 2.5 cm height x 7.5 cm width
    • JPG format, up to 15 KB each
    • White background photo with date, taken not more than 1 year before the last date
  8. Check all details, edit if needed and click Confirm Application. No change is possible after confirmation. Save your Confirmation Number.
  9. Print the application form using Print Application and keep it safe till the recruitment ends. It cannot be downloaded after the last date.
  10. Pay the fee online through Print Application Form / Pay Fees by 12/11/2026 (23:59 hrs) and save the receipt.

Important notes

General Guidelines

  1. Vacancies may increase or decrease. Reserved seats are meant for original Gujarat reserved-category candidates.
  2. Seats reserved for women are filled by men of the same category if no eligible woman is available. Remaining seats are not reserved for men only; both men and women can apply and are selected on merit.
  3. Recognised disabilities for this cadre include OA, OL, CP, Dw, AAV, BA, BL, D, HH, SD, SI, SLD, MI, MD and others listed in the notice (Group A to D types).
  4. The Board can change or cancel the advertisement or recruitment process at any time without giving reasons.
  5. Recruitment follows the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967 and the cadre recruitment rules.

Eligibility Conditions

  1. Widow candidates must tick Yes in the form and must not have remarried at appointment; 5% marks are added on the exam score. If a woman becomes a widow later, the benefit applies from the stage after she submits proof.
  2. Sports weightage: 5% of marks are added for candidates who have represented at national/international, inter-university or All India School Federation level in listed sports (such as athletics, cricket, football, hockey, badminton, shooting, kabaddi, chess). A certificate from the prescribed authority is needed at verification, and the bonus is cancelled if not proven.
  3. Candidates without a computer knowledge certificate can apply, but must submit proof of passing a basic computer test before appointment, or the selection is cancelled.
  4. Degrees from foreign universities need UGC equivalence proof within the verification schedule.
  5. The selected candidate must complete training and pass the training exam as per government rules.

Application & Fee

  1. If more than one application is made, the last confirmed one is valid. Fee paid on earlier applications is not refunded.
  2. The fee payment link closes automatically after 12/11/2026. No late fee is accepted.
  3. If a fee receipt is not generated, the fee is treated as unpaid and the application is invalid.
  4. Unpaid applications are cancelled without notice. Fee is not refunded if the Board cancels an application.
  5. Category cannot be changed after confirming the form. To correct anything, submit a fresh application with the right details before the last date, get a new Confirmation Number and pay the fee for it.
  6. Details in the form are final. Wrong or incomplete information leads to cancellation at any stage.

Exam and Selection

  1. Exam centres are decided by the Board. Candidates attend at their own cost.
  2. Provisional answer key is published after the exam, and objections are considered before the final key. If a question is cancelled, marks are adjusted pro-rata.
  3. Roughly twice the number of vacancies (category-wise) are called for certificate verification as per the provisional merit list. More candidates are called if needed.
  4. Passing the exam does not give a right to appointment. The appointing authority must be satisfied about the candidate's suitability.
  5. Appointment is made by the Government; the Board does not handle appointment correspondence.

Disabled Candidates Facilities

  1. Scribe and compensatory time (20 minutes per hour) are given to eligible Benchmark Disability candidates who have difficulty writing.
  2. Apply by emailing the prescribed form and certificates to so-kh1-gsssb@gujarat.gov.in at least 2 days before the exam. Later requests are not considered.
  3. Candidates with both arms affected (BA) with 40% or more disability need only the disability certificate. Others need Appendix-I from a Civil Surgeon or Medical Superintendent.
  4. Bring original certificates and the Board's approval letter on exam day.

Communication & Document Verification

  1. Check the GSSSB website https://gsssb.gujarat.gov.in regularly for exam dates, call letters and instructions.
  2. Keep the same mobile number and email active throughout, because SMS notices are sent.
  3. Keep 4-5 copies of the uploaded photograph and use the same photo at the exam and at verification. Different photos can block allotment.
  4. Keep all original certificates ready for verification. Any mismatch cancels the application at that stage.
  5. ST and SEBC candidates should read the Board's website instructions on caste certificate verification.

Fraud/Canvassing Warning

  1. Seeking influence on Board members or officers, impersonation, forged documents, hiding facts, copying or misconduct in the exam can lead to disqualification, debarment from exams or government jobs, and criminal action.
  2. The Gujarat Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2023 applies to all Board exams.
  3. Candidates currently disqualified by GPSC or any other board have their application cancelled automatically.
