GSSSB Food Safety Officer Bharti 2026 - 84 Posts (Class-3)

The GSSSB Food Safety Officer Bharti 2026 invites online applications for 84 posts of Food Safety Officer, Class-3. The Gujarat Subordinate Service Selection Board, Gandhinagar, will fill them through direct recruitment under the Commissioner, Food and Drug Control Administration. Apply on ojas.gujarat.gov.in from 27 October 2026 (6:00 PM) to 10 November 2026 (11:59 PM).

The detailed advertisement is numbered 465/202627 and is dated 27 October 2026. The Health and Family Welfare Department posts are filled through one competitive CBRT/OMR exam. Reserved posts are only for candidates of Gujarat origin. Reserved posts for Divyang candidates are advertised separately under Advertisement No. 466/202627.

Educational qualification (as per recruitment rules of 02/07/2016):

• A Master's Degree in Chemistry from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government; OR
• A degree in Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Biotechnology, Oil Technology, Agriculture Science, Veterinary Science, Bio-Chemistry, Microbiology or Medicine from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification.
• Basic knowledge of computer application as per the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
• Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi, or both.
• A person with a financial interest in the making, import or sale of any food article cannot be appointed.

Additional degrees accepted (Ministry of Health notification of 21/09/2023): A Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate degree from a recognised university in these fields.

• Food Technology group: Food Engineering, Food Engineering and Technology, Food Processing and Preservation, Food Processing Technology, Food Technology and Management, Food Biotechnology, Food Plant Operations Management, Food Process Engineering Management, Food Processing, Food Safety and Quality Management, Process and Food Engineering.
• Agricultural Science group: Agriculture, Agriculture Engineering, Biotechnology, Dairy Technology, Fisheries, Food Technology, Food Nutrition and Dietetic, Horticulture.
• A Doctorate in Food Technology or in Agricultural Science is also accepted.

Age limit: 18 to 37 years as on 10/11/2026. Existing Gujarat Government employees may get relaxation in the upper age as per rules.

Age relaxation by category:

Nationality: Indian citizen, or nationality as per Rule 7 of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.

Reservation conditions:

• Age relaxation and reservation benefits are only for SC, ST, SEBC and EWS candidates of Gujarat origin.
• Reserved category candidates applying for unreserved posts get no age or other relaxation.
• If a reserved woman post has no eligible woman, it is filled by a man of the same category.
• Divyang candidates may apply only for these disability types: Low Vision (40-80%), Deaf and Hard of Hearing, OA, OL, BL, OAL, BA, CP, LC, Dwarfism, AAV, SD, SI (without any neurological/limb dysfunction), SLD, Mental Illness (40-100%) and Multiple Disabilities.
• Divyang candidates need a 10-year age relaxation (maximum 45 years) with the prescribed medical certificate when applying for posts not reserved for them.
• Ex-servicemen need at least 6 months of service and a discharge book and ID card to get relaxation.

1. Complete OJAS One Time Registration (OTR) first if you have not done it.
2. Visit https://ojas.gujarat.gov.in and open Online Application, then click Apply and select GSSSB.
3. Click the cadre name for Advertisement No. 465/202627, Food Safety Officer, Class-3. Read the details in More Details, then click Apply Now.
4. Enter your Registration No. and date of birth, then click Apply with OTR. Your Personal Details appear pre-filled from your registration (fields marked with * are compulsory).
5. Fill in the application:
   • SSC details: roll number, month and year of passing, name as per marksheet, board name
   • Bank account details for fee refund, with a scan of the first passbook page (JPEG/JPG/PNG)
   • Educational Details
6. Accept the Declaration with Yes and click Save. Note down the Application Number generated.
7. Click Upload Photograph, enter the Application Number and date of birth, then upload your photo and signature:
   • Photo: 5 cm height x 3.6 cm width, white background, taken within the last 1 year with date shown, up to 15 KB, JPG
   • Signature: 2.5 cm height x 7.5 cm width, up to 15 KB, JPG
8. Go to Online Application, then Confirm Application. Check all details, edit if needed, and then confirm. No change is possible after confirmation. Save the Confirmation Number.
9. Pay the exam fee online through Print Application Form / Pay Fees by 13/11/2026 (11:59 PM) and save the receipt.
10. Print the application form with your Confirmation Number and keep it until the full recruitment ends.

• Degree certificates and marksheets of the required qualification
