GSSSB Surveyor Bharti 2026 has been announced by the Gujarat Subordinate Service Selection Board for 78 Surveyor, Class-3 posts under the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & Head of Forest Force, Forest & Environment Department, Gandhinagar. Diploma Civil Engineering holders and ITI Surveyor certificate holders can apply online on OJAS until 20 November 2026.

The recruitment is notified under Advertisement No. 467/202627, dated 30 October 2026, and will be filled by direct recruitment through a competitive exam to prepare a selection list and a waiting list. Reserved seats are only for candidates who are original residents of Gujarat from reserved categories.

Since Surveyors work in the field for the Forest Department, the post has physical standards and a walking test at the time of appointment. After five years of satisfactory fixed-pay service, staff become eligible for a regular Level-4 pay scale.

  • B.E./B.Tech Civil holders cannot apply – only diploma or ITI-level candidates are eligible
  • Walking test at appointment: Men 25 km in 4 hours, women 14 km in 4 hours (one extra chance allowed)
  • Negative marking: 1/4 of the question's marks deducted for each wrong answer
  • Fee refunded to every candidate who actually appears in the exam
  • Women's reservation: 24 of the 78 posts are reserved for women across categories

Eligibility

Nationality: Citizen of India, or eligible under Rule 7 of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.

Educational qualification (as on 20/11/2026):

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering from the Technical Examination Board, a university set up under a Central/State Act, or a deemed university, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government
  • OR a certificate of a minimum one/two-year Surveyor course from a Government-recognised ITI
  • Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering are not eligible
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications as per the 1967 Rules
  • Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both

Category rules:

  • Reservation and age relaxation apply only to original residents of Gujarat from SC, ST, SEBC and EWS categories
  • Reserved candidates applying for unreserved posts get no age or other relaxation
  • SEBC and EWS candidates without a valid certificate (see Documents) are treated as General
  • Ex-Servicemen due to retire within one year of the last date can also apply

Divyang (PwD) candidates: No post is reserved for PwD. As per the advertisement's disability table, only Leprosy Cured (LC) and Acid Attack Victim (AAV) appear listed as suitable; such candidates get 10 years' relaxation (max 45) subject to a civil surgeon certificate under the RPwD Rules, 2017 (Form V/VI/VII).

How to apply

  1. Complete One Time Registration (OTR) on ojas.gujarat.gov.in if not done already – OTR alone does not count as an application
  2. Go to Online Application → Apply, and select GSSSB
  3. Click on Advertisement No. 467/202627, Surveyor Class-3, read More Details, then click Apply Now and Skip
  4. Check your Personal Details (filled from OTR) and fill all fields marked with a red star
  5. Fill in SSC details: roll number, passing month and year, name as per marksheet, board
  6. Enter bank account details for the fee refund and upload the first page of your passbook (JPEG/JPG/PNG)
    • Bank details cannot be changed once submitted
  7. Fill in Educational Details, accept the Declaration, click Save and note your Application Number
  8. Upload your photograph and signature using the Application Number and date of birth
  9. Open Confirm Application, check every detail, edit if needed, then confirm and note the Confirmation Number
    • No changes are possible after confirmation
  10. Pay the exam fee online via Print Application Form / Pay Fees → Online Payment of Fees, and save the fee receipt
  11. Print the confirmed application form before the last date – it cannot be downloaded later

Important notes

General Guidelines

  1. The number of posts may increase or decrease.
  2. If no eligible woman is available for a women-reserved post, it goes to a man of the same category; non-women seats are open to both men and women on merit.
  3. The recruitment follows the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967 and the cadre's recruitment rules.
  4. Pay and regularisation are subject to the Supreme Court's decision in SLP No. 14124/2012 and 14125/2012.
  5. Selected candidates must complete Government training and pass the training exam.
  6. GSSSB may change or cancel the advertisement or process without giving reasons.

Eligibility Conditions

  1. Qualification, age, non-creamy layer, EWS and caste certificates are all counted as on 20/11/2026.
  2. Category cannot be changed after confirming the application; to fix a mistake, apply again before the last date and pay the fee for the new confirmation number.
  3. Married SEBC women must give a non-creamy layer certificate based on their parents' income, not their husband's, or the application will be rejected.
  4. A new SEBC/EWS certificate obtained after the last date to fix an error will not be accepted.
  5. Foreign university degrees need UGC equivalence proof within the document verification period.
  6. Widow candidates get 5% extra marks only if not remarried at appointment; the bonus is cancelled if proof is not produced.

Application & Fee

  1. Only one application should be made; if there are several, the last confirmed application with fee paid is valid.
  2. Fees paid on multiple applications are not refunded.
  3. No fee is accepted after 23/11/2026 in any form, even with a late fee; an application without fee is rejected without notice.
  4. Fee is not refunded if GSSSB rejects the application, or if the candidate does not appear in the exam.
  5. Upload a passport-size photo with a white background showing the date it was taken, not older than one year before the last date; use the same photo at every stage.

Exam & Result

  1. Exam date, time and admit card notice will be posted on gsssb.gujarat.gov.in; candidates attend the assigned centre at their own cost.
  2. A provisional answer key will be published, and objections considered before the final key.
  3. If a question is cancelled, its marks are spread pro-rata over the remaining questions.
  4. About twice the number of candidates per category will be called for document verification, based on merit.
  5. PwD candidates needing a scribe or compensatory time (20 minutes per hour) must e-mail the form to so-kh1-gsssb@gujarat.gov.in at least two days before the exam.

Communication & Appointment

  1. Keep the mobile number and e-mail given in the form active; exam updates are sent by SMS.
  2. Check gsssb.gujarat.gov.in regularly for all recruitment notices.
  3. Passing the exam does not guarantee appointment; the appointing authority decides suitability, and GSSSB does not handle appointment correspondence.

Fraud/Canvassing Warning

  1. Influencing Board members, impersonation, fake documents, copying or misbehaviour can lead to disqualification, a ban from GSSSB exams or Government jobs, and criminal action.
  2. The Gujarat Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2023 applies to this exam.
  3. Candidates currently debarred by GPSC or any other recruitment body will have their application cancelled.
  4. False certificates found at any stage lead to cancellation of candidature or appointment and legal action.
